Concentration: The Blue Door Project
My concentration focuses on family. Because the famous "blue door" is native to New Mexico, where most of my family hails from, I decided to use that blue door in different building locations to show the outreach and connectivity of my family.
Taos, NM

901 Stephen Avenue, Croydon, PA
My step-father, Michael, has been a huge part of my life for the past eight years. In the fall of 2018, he took my mother, my brother, and I to Pennsylvania to see his old stomping grounds. 901 Stephen Avenue was the house he grew up in. This piece represents my step-dad, and the addition of new family far away.
University of Austin, Austin, TX
I spent the month of July in the summer of 2018 at the University of Austin in Austin, Texas for a ballet summer intensive. Here, girls and boys ages twelve to eighteen gathered from around the globe to participate in American Ballet Theatre's summer intensive located in Austin. This piece depicting a beautiful building on campus (that happened to have a blue door) represents my dance family and how connected and invested we become, all because of our one common love of dance.
Pinedale, WY
Just outside of the small town of Pinedale, Wyoming is a lake called Big Soda where my family and I have our annual camping trip. By creating a piece depicting the abandoned cabin that resides by our favorite camping spot, I capture the adventurous streak my family has, and our eagerness to explore new areas of the world.
Aguirre House, Las Cruses, NM
This blue door is found leading to the courtyard at the house of my great-grandparents. It represents the Aguirre branch (my grandmother's name) and their reach through to Spain.
Meier Cabin, Tisidings, WY
The Meier family built a cabin in the mountains in (featured in the foreground), later building a new one (featured in the background). This piece shows the progression of history with my father's family from the old, abandoned cabin, to the new one used today.

My grandparents' house is the place where I spent most of my growing-up. My mom, my brother, and I lived there for six years with my grandparents, so it was - and still is - a place I can proudly call home.
Longmont Dance Theatre Academy
This is my home away from home. I have been dancing at this studio since the age of four and I consider it to be the home of my chosen family. They have raised me just as much as my biological family has.
Agurie House in Spain
My great-grandfather's parents immigrated directly from the Basque country in Spain. This is the house where generations have begun.
Soccorro, NM
My grandfather was raised in this house. It is a small, pink adobe home in the middle of a once-large chili farm. It is a place of history, laughs, and it marks the beginning of the Bustamante family's journey.

This is my home. I live there presently and it is where I hope to return to when I come home for the holidays.
